PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION
NARI CERTIFICATION MEANS — PROVEN COMPETENCE, PROFESSIONALISM AND ETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES
NARI Certification designations in use are:
- Certified Remodeler (CR) - ON STAFF
is for general construction work, both residential and commercial
- Certified Remodeler Specialist (CRS)
is for all other qualifying trade specialties, such as roofing, siding, insulation, electrical, etc
- Certified Remodeling Associate (CRA)
is for professionals relating to and/or serving the remodeling industry
- Certified Lead Carpenter (CLC) - ON STAFF
is exclusively for lead carpenters who are skilled and knowledgeable in the technical, hands-on aspects of their work, but who also have demonstrated skill and knowledge in project management, supervision, and customer service
- Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler (CKBR)
This designation includes remodelers with knowledge and skills specific to Kitchen and Bathroom remodeling. Individuals with the CKBR designation are recognized as experienced remodelers with skills and knowledge in all aspects of kitchen and bathroom remodeling and have agreed to uphold the "NARI Code of Ethics"
- Certified Remodeling Carpenter (CRC)
have at least two years of experience, a basic understanding of the knowledge, have demonstrated the skills required of a remodeling carpenter and are recognized as having completed an extensive training program and have passed a comprehensive test and hands-on evaluation
So what is a CR / CRS / CRA / CLC / CRC / CKBR?
The certification of a remodeling contractor under the certification program of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) is the association's recognition that the contractor has met certain criteria for experience, commitment to ethical conduct and professionalism.
Some of the Requirements are as follows:
- Verified years of experience in the remodeling business
- Employed by (or own) a firm engaged in the remodeling business
- Detailed resume of past history, education, training, experience and technical remodeling knowledge
- Completed written examination on business management and technical remodeling knowledge
- Approved on the basis of the combined resume / exam total
